The Sweetapolita Bake Book!

[Click the image to learn more about the book]

My Review: Anybody who personally knows me and my love for baking knows how excited I am about getting this book. It has so many amazing recipes. It has things I didn't even know about and I have been baking for so long, I don't even know how I started. It has so much useful information and how-to's. I am so excited about trying out all the recipes, little by little. I even found the perfect recipe for my mothers wedding!

Sweetapolita has so many cute ideas. In fact, I found a bunch of recipes I could even include my four year old little sister in... and we all know how much toddlers love to get messy with baking. From the moment I got this book I couldn't stop reading all the recipes and all the information this book had.

I am dying to go to the store and buy some of those markers to write on fondant. I mean, just looking at the cover, I thought it was such a cute idea. Especially for birthday parties. I will be posting some of my attempts at the recipes. Maybe I will even post the turn out for my moms wedding cake this weekend! I will be making a red velvet and chocolate two tiered cake. :D

I decided to make my moms wedding cake in order for it to be a little more special. Thankfully, Sweetapolita came just a week before the wedding and so I had time to decide what I wanted to try to do. I ended up going with chocolate & red velvet. I created a two tiered cake and decorated it to look like a mess of roses. The bottom was the chocolate taste with a bit of a coffee taste- which my Cuban family happened to LOVE. The top was red velvet. Long story short- I was almost ran over at the time of cutting the cake at the wedding and the entire thing was gone in under 20 minutes. Seriously, I didn't even get a piece of the red velvet. People absolutely LOVED it and my mom was so surprised, she kept telling everyone I made the cake. She thought it was beautiful and I am so happy that I was able to make her something on her special day.
