Synopsis: Layla O'Leary has had enough. For years she has been haunted by a night she can't remember. When she learns the only man she's ever loved betrayed her, she escapes and crafts a new identity. She's finally free.
Carter has waited eight years to claim his woman. Locking him up only fueled his obsession. The day he gets out, he's coming after her. Taking The Fall was just the start. Now he will stop at nothing to possess what's his.
*Note: Taking The Fall is a four part story. A new part will come out every two weeks. Please note the endings are NOT relationship cliffhangers. Layla is Carter's.
My Review
Alexa Riley is a good go-to author if you're ever in the need for a quick dirty story. Although some stories touch taboo topics, they're quite enjoyable to anybody who is open minded to these situations.  In this case, Taking The Fall is about Layla- also known as Cherry, and her bodyguard Carter. Layla wakes up one morning not knowing what happened the night before and realizing that her bodyguard Carter is now in jail for manslaughter. He refuses to let her know the events of that night and pushes her away for her own protection. Now carter, as hot as he may be, is a huge asshole. Then again, some girls just can't resist assholes, can they? After keeping his distance from Cheery for the eight years in which he is in prison, he finally gets out and the one thing he wants and is determined to get is Cherry.

Cherry has decided to live her life without Carter after he rudely pushed her away when she went to visit him in jail- and she's working on it until he finds her on the day of his release. Carter is crude and mean and a master a dirty talk apparently. Seriously. When they got together, I felt like I needed a fan. Some of the things Carter said was just...drool worthy. I kind of kept wishing I could have been in Cherry's shoes...no shame about that.

This short story was exactly what I thought it would be. However, the story is not complete. With three more volumes to come out every two weeks, there is more Layla and Carter to come. Now I admit, I read the last page and a hated that it ended where it did because I just wanted to find out what was gonna happen next. To be honest, I have never been a fan of cliffhangers but I understand why the story had to end where it did. I will be back in two weeks, with my thoughts on Volume 2 and my overall thoughts on volumes 1-4 when the fourth part is released. Until then, I highly recommend you guys check out her other stories.
