Purchase: [iBooks] [Amazon] [Kobo] [B&N]
*Note: This is book #1 in The Rules series.

Synopsis:
Bad enough Jade Frost’s boyfriend drags her to a boring poker game. Even worse that he actually threw her into the betting pot during an intense round…and lost. Talk about the perfect excuse for Jade to make him her ex-boyfriend.
Now she supposedly belongs to the ultra rich, extremely gorgeous Shep Prescott. He could have anything he wants yet he seems to be in hot pursuit of her. No matter how rude, how snarky, how impossible she acts, it doesn’t stop him. More like her horrible behavior seems to make him want her more.
When she finds herself starting to fall for him, Jade’s confused. There’s more to Shep than the carefree rich charmer he portrays. No way could he want a serious relationship with her…or could he?

My Review: Okay, I admit I ended up liking this book a lot more than I originally thought. I imagined it would be a nice, quick read. I didn't expect to be up until four in the morning because I didn't want to go to sleep. I wanted to stay up and read more and more about Jade & Shep. He was unbelievably cocky- to a point where it was laughable and I absolutely loved Jade. She was sassy and was never afraid of speaking her mind when she had to. Then again, she was also nice and sweet at times, too. To be honest, I loved Shep and Jade together as a couple. They aren't anything like the one another but I think that was what Shep was so drawn to when it came to Jade.

For as long as Shep can remember. people have looked at him and have only seen one thing: His wealth. Not his personality or how funny he -thought- he was. They simply saw his money and his family's money. He was used to girls being with him either for a quick lay or for the money he had and was bound to inherit. I loved how Jade couldn't give a flying fadoodle who he was or how much money was in his bank account. She never put up with his crap and I liked that- it's no fun watching the heroine be a doormat simply because the guy is just so hot she can't help herself. I had been reading so many books with the same plot lately-this one was just refreshing. There was no insta-love. Their relationship grew and developed into something deeper over time. They actually took their time getting to know the other person more than just what they had heard from their peers. I loved that and I really loved this book. I can't wait for the next one.

In The Dark (book #2), Gabriel's story will be released this August!
