Book One in the Consolation Duet
Liam wasn’t supposed to be my happily ever after.
He wasn’t even on my radar.
He was my husband’s best friend—forbidden.

But my husband is dead and I’m alone. I ache for him and I reach for Liam.

One night with Liam changed everything. Now I have to decide if I truly love him or if he’s just the consolation prize.

My Review
I have been dying to read this one since it first came out! Once I heard how anxious the ending made people, I decided to wait for the second part to be released. Although the waiting was tough, I am SO glad I held off! This book blew my mind.

Liam was so sweet and obviously cared so much about his fallen best friend. He felt guilty for even thinking about Natalie but he couldn't help just passing by even if it was just to see if she was okay or if she needed anything. He saw right through her lies, knew what she needed and never let her push him away. He helped her with all that he could and the more he was around, the more I freaking loved his character and how much he cared for Lee and her daughter.

"You're going to make me fall in love with you, aren't you?"

I had to give it to Natalie, she dealt with it all much better than I would have. She was such a strong heroine and I actually found myself nodding often when she spoke. I understood her doubts and worries as well as the moments in which she found joy and felt guilty for it. I was so glad when she started seeing things for how they were and stopped letting her grief blind her. It made everything so much clearer and only made me want Liam and Natalie together even more.

However, like it always happens with good books, I ended up with my jaw on the floor. I finished this book and had to re-read the last page a couple times while whispering "what the crap is going on right now"- it was absolutely mind-blowing.
