New Release + Review: Rules of Contact by Jaci Burton

Monday, December 5, 2016

In the new Play-By-Play novel by the New York Times bestselling author of Unexpected Rush, a football player with all the right moves on the field needs a better game plan for his love life.

A defensive end for the San Francisco Sabers, Flynn Cassidy is used to being in the spotlight—he just doesn’t enjoy it. But if getting in front of the cameras will help his new restaurant succeed, he’s willing. Now if he could just meet a woman who loved him and not his fame...
After her divorce, Amelia Lawrence is thrilled to start over as head chef at Ninety-Two. It’s just the opportunity she needs to heat up her career—if only she wasn’t wildly attracted to her sexy new boss. Their chemistry might be sizzling hot, but Amelia has no intention of being burned again.
Amelia is genuine and fun and Flynn can’t get enough of her—and Amelia loves every second she spends with the tough but tender Flynn. But trust is a hard fought battle for both of them. Breaking the rules of contact and surrendering to their passion was easy, but are they willing to risk their hearts to win at the game of love?

I was initially nervous about reading this book because it is the 12th book in the Play By Play series and I feared feeling lost while reading but I am so glad that wasn't the case with this one. Each book in the Play by Play series can easily be read as a stand alone without feeling like you're missing out on major details in the story. Rules of Contact revolves around Flynn and Amelia's love story. Amelia Lawrence is a chef, so needless to say that she won me over pretty soon- especially when she talked about the kind of stuff she made. I liked the characters but when it comes to Flynn and Amelia, I didn't feel too much chemistry between them, at least not as much as I hoped there would be. When it comes to them in bed together, there is no doubt that they could easily steam up the windows of a car while they were together. However, something lacked between them outside of the bedroom. Besides that, the book was actually very good and I think I will soon be going back and starting it from the beginning in order to read about the rest of the characters stories.
